Seeing Sleeping Lion in person was unforgettable. What captivated me most were the dark cobalt-blue vertical streaks running through the limestone and the three distinct horizontal sections that structure the wall. Rather than reproducing the climb itself, I wanted to translate this powerful geological rhythm into thread.
Sleeping Lion is a 40-metre sport climbing route, graded 9b+, located in El Patí, Siurana, Tarragona, Spain. The route was opened and first ascended by Chris Sharma. Since then, it has been repeated by only a small group of climbers: Adam Ondra, Stefano Ghisolfi, Seb Bouin, Alex Megos, Jakob Schubert, Sean Bailey and Jorge Díaz-Rullo.
